VRAM usage

1 thing that helps with this is to disable graphics pipeline library.

Progress of the 4.0.0 script

@codychan Using option dxvk.enableGraphicsPipelineLibrary=false in dxvk.conf. This reduced VRAM usage enough for this to run smoothly with 4GB gpu on my laptop.

Progress of the 4.0.0 script

Game works patchless, but i was having much worse stuttering in fontaine on my laptop than any previous areas. It seems to be that 4GB VRAM is starting to get too low.

Game creates lot of .tmp files

Now i went to test and confirm if it tries to create them on Z, after running 'chmod o+w /', it will create those files on / that is mapped as Z. So maybe this is actually happening for everyone but as you wont have write permissions to root it can't create them.

Game creates lot of .tmp files

This issue is happening bit differently than #324 and cybik for me, as i don't run it through steam, i am currently using https://gitlab.com/Ph42oN/qtlaunch to run it, and also happened with lutris, and instead of C it was creating them on D.

That didn't help. But what did, i deleted that D: drive mapping, i think it might still be trying to create them, but it will not have permissions to do so on root.

Progress of the 3.8.0 patch

Unpatched works fine. But now, i was getting CPU usage issue that causes it to perform worse on my laptop, even unpatched. Tried using unpatched and patched, and renaming mhypbase.dll, even that didnt fix it. I was using 100hz kernel, compiling 1000hz kernel fixed it.

Progress of the 3.7.0 patch

For me, in 3.6 the high cpu usage issue happened on 1000hz kernel. It went away with low cpu patch. But this time, so far its performing normally so it doesnt look like i would need that patch. Maybe what they changed also fixed what was causing high cpu usage for me.

AMD GPU not operating to its fullest

There seems to have been some improvement to this in drivers, now it does not hit fps anymore, but adaptive sync still does not work properly with default settings on RX 6800, refresh rate jumps all over the place. That makes it feel like its stuttering. Running command echo 1 > /sys/class/drm/card0/device/pp_power_profile_mode fixes it.

Regarding stuttering / performance issues

Looks like DXVK 2.0 can help on AMD too.

AMD Performance

Instead of setting /sys/class/drm/card0/device/power_dpm_force_performance_level to high, can try setting it to manual and /sys/class/drm/card0/device/pp_power_profile_mode to 1. This should allow gpu to downclock while fixing the issue.
