I did have this problem and reported it in the https://notabug.org/Krock/dawn/issues/259#issuecomment-30322 issue since it has the same symptoms and is fixed with the antilogincrassh patch.

Not sure if it's your case, but I believe it's possible to trigger some sort of race condition or deadlock or something somewhere, especially if you alt-tab during loading screens (especially during the initial game loading, but it also happened to me on entering the door).
