I love using emacs-ide, but I've run into some issues when using a small terminal window when ssh'ing to other servers. I think I can achieve most of this with bookmarks and make it easier to search for them with helm. Then each project can have its own bookmark set in M-x bookmark-load <RET> filename <RET> and we can search for them using helm.

I started down a projectile rabbit hole. I haven't finished it yet, but I found this very thorough demo page.

Added helm and projectile in the recent commit. 257d55f549
Will move on to helm-projectile next. By then, we should have most of the features nailed.

Added helm-projectile with just minor additions in recent commit. 7914089b37
I feel fairly good about this now. I think maybe a static, user-defined list of projects for the next part. Either using of the existing, newly added packages or with bookmarks.
