It's fairly rare but sometimes you'll end up in the modeline. You can still type and it'll go where it ought to but it won't show up until you move out of the modeline.

Turns out this happens if the line is just a newline, likely has something to do with the rendering logic.
I can't seem to reproduce this bug with goto line but I can with recenter.
