  • Prime Preset v11: Primed 1440p

notahuman 1 year ago 4 commits to master since this release

Important: You will need to manually set the path for NFAA when installing this preset. If you don't, then you will get a blank screen when launching the game.

    Comparison: https://imgsli.com/MTExNTYx https://imgsli.com/MTEwNzY5

    Changes:

    • Rebalanced everything for 1440p (2560x1440). Version 10 and below were designed for 1080p.

    Recommended ingame settings:

    • Bloom: OFF
    • AA: SMAA / FSR 2 / OFF
    • Brightness: 55-75% (FakeHDR requires a balanced image to work as intended)
    • Visual Effects: Medium / Low

Listed in order of preference, so SMAA for example is listed first as I think it looks better than no AA.

  • Prime Preset v10: Perfectly Balanced

notahuman 2 years ago 5 commits to master since this release

    Comparison: https://imgsli.com/MTAyNzc0

    Changes:

    • Removed Tonemap, as the game now has a brightness slider implemented, and ingame brightness control looks much better
    • Reduced NFAA
    • Slightly increased HDR power
    • Slightly reduced sharpness

    Recommended ingame settings:

    • AA: SMAA / OFF
    • Brightness: 55-75% (FakeHDR requires a balanced image to work as intended)
    • Visual Effects: Medium / Low

Listed in order of preference, so SMAA for example is listed first as I think it looks better than no AA.

    Let there be light!

This version includes Tonemap to raise the overall brightness level. Since FakeHDR drops the scene brightness, having a tonemap pass helps for fine tuning the end result.

It comes down to personal preference, monitor settings and type (TN, IPS, VA, etc) for what brightness, contrast and saturation looks best, so I'm hoping that this release looks generally good as I don't have additional monitors to test with.

    Changes:

    • Added Tonemap to increase brightness and saturation
    • Rebalanced FakeHDR settings

    Recommended ingame settings:

    • Bloom: OFF
    • AA: SMAA / OFF
    • Render scale: 1.1x (with NFAA) / 1.1x, 1.2x (without NFAA)
    • Visual Effects: Medium / Low

Listed in order of preference, so SMAA for example is listed first as I think it looks better than no AA.

  • Prime Preset v8: De-Overtuned

notahuman 2 years ago 8 commits to master since this release

Important: You will need to manually set the path for NFAA when installing this preset. If you don't, then you will get a blank screen when launching the game.

    Comparison (v8): https://imgsli.com/OTc1NTk

    Changes:

    • Reduced Clarity which was conflicting with FakeHDR and washing out/flattening colours.
    • Reduced NFAA which was blurring certain elements a bit too much.
    • Reduced edge sharpening.

    Recommended ingame settings:

    • Bloom: OFF
    • AA: SMAA / OFF
    • Render scale: 1.1x (with NFAA) / 1.1x, 1.2x (without NFAA)
    • Visual Effects: Medium / Low

Listed in order of preference, so SMAA for example is listed first as I think it looks better than no AA.

    Recommended ingame settings:

    • Bloom: OFF
    • AA: SMAA / OFF
    • Render scale: 1.0x, 1.1x (with NFAA) / 1.1x, 1.2x (without NFAA)

  • Prime Preset v5 (featuring NFAA)

notahuman 2 years ago 11 commits to master since this release

Important: You will need to manually set the path for NFAA when installing this preset. If you don't, then you will get a blank screen when launching the game.

    Comparison: https://imgsli.com/OTQzNzA

I fixed the scaling on the comparison, fullscreen is not required anymore.

    Changes:

Added NFAA shader. This anti-aliasing implementation softens edges with minimal impact on ingame text. This can be used on top of SMAA or without ingame anti-aliasing. Don't use TAA.

    Adjusted brightness towards normal levels.

  • Prime Preset v4

notahuman 2 years ago 12 commits to master since this release

Comparison: https://imgsli.com/OTIxMTI/ (use the fullscreen button or you might get horrible scaling on the preview)

Reduced peak brightness by ~6% and overall brightness by ~4%. This solves the eye strain issue I was trying to fix in v3.
