#3 No support for emojis

Twitter supports emojis, while GNU Social doesn't. This leads to odd statuses like this:

I don't know how one would go about in fixing this, maybe switching them for Unicode characters?

Maybe, but it could only change some of them. The cloud one, for example, doesn't have any unicode equivalent.

I'm pretty certain most if not all have Unicode counterparts, check out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emoji

This will be useful. The developer wants to merge it with gnu social's git when is more stable. SmileysUnicode When it's more developed, I'll try to support it.
