There is no mention of where, how and why the patch even exists and looking at how many want to play the game its only a matter of time before the patch leaks beyond Lutris, also the installer does not block the hosts file meaning this work has been leaked to MiHoYo

At least he's not pointing here directly to grab the patches, but still.
Here's the URL where the lutris script get the patches

"also the installer does not block the hosts file meaning this work has been leaked to MiHoYo"
No, the patch script does block the hosts as well.
It's a bit too visible out there, but it seems to be doing things right at least. Don't think we can get it removed, and trying might make things worse.

Calm down y'all. Dawn has been used through Lutris for ages. It's not explicitly saying anything about the repo, only using it via either its configuration files or via tool integrations that may or may not be published.

This is long known and the script maintainer @legluondunet (source: #290) can be reached here as well if you need to discuss a certain matter with them.
The Lutris script does fulfill the most important points:
Patch risk warning via patch script (README is easily overseen though)
Hosts blocking via patch script
Starts launcher.bat
No exposed links to this project
Functionally unmodified patch
There is to my knowledge no saner way to integrate this patch into Lutris, even if it looks a bit sketchy.

Ok then, looks like I was worried for nothing.
